First Designer Footwear : Tory Burch Two-Tone Jelly Bow Ballet Flat

Back in April of last year (2016) me and husband (H) went on overseas vacation. It was a 4 days trip consisting of a super packed schedule with lots of walking. My feet hurts by day 3 from the so many walks we did. I think in total we walked for about 37 kilometres within 2 days - by foot!

I was wearing a flat fabric shoes from American Eagles which I considered one of the comfiest shoes I owned at that moment (because it’s made of breathable fabric). But apparently we just walked too much until my feet eventually gave up. The AE shoes were comfortable enough but I guess they were probably not made for too much walking either, so they grew uncomfortable on my feet by day 3.

Then on the last day of our trip I couldn't walk too far anymore so we took taxi and arrived at the airport earlier. I took the opportunity of arriving early by checking out the duty free area. The airport was huge and the duty free area was quite massive too, so I had my attack plan of only visiting 2 - 3 stores because I don't think my feet could handle more than that considering the massive area. The stores I planned to visit were Burberry, Tory Burch, and Michael Kors. I didn't find what I like in Burberry but found a jelly shoes in Tory Burch! After hurting my feet for 3 days it felt like it was the appropriate thing to do to buy some shoes. When I put on the jelly shoes to try it on it felt like clouds on my feet 😛

The jelly material was cooling and flexible it was sooo much comfortable than my broken American Eagle ones. My feet demanded me to buy it, LOL. So finally I bought the Tory Burch jelly flat shoes to replace my hurting AE ones (yes, I changed up the shoes right there at the airport because my feet just couldn't take it anymore, LOL).

This was my first Tory Burch shoes.
Wait, I think this was actually my first Tory Burch item! And my first designer footwear too!

After owning a couple of designer bags and accessories I've been thinking to expand my collection with designer shoes, because surely they too would last longer than regular brand shoes right? Well, hopefully ...
At least they would elevate the whole look when you're wearing your designer bag (that's what I think when I checked myself in front of the mirror with the shoes, LOL).

So anyway, this is the Tory Burch Two Tone Jelly Bow Ballet Flat in the color Classic Khaki/Black. It is made of jelly / rubber-like material which was kinda on-trend around that time (think "melissa shoes" - and a couple years later the "Ferragamo jelly shoes").

When the hype of fragranced Melissa jelly shoes were all around I never wanted one, because I was at first skeptical about the material. I mean really, why would you spend $$ on jelly shoes? I thought it's gonna look cheap and not worth the money. But when I tried this TB jelly shoes on the duty free store.. hell, I was hooked immediately! Especially because my feet were already hurting so bad so the jelly feels like cold cushion to my hot sweltering feet 😝 Well, I guess I was underestimating these jelly shoes. No wonder they have lots of followings, because they are THAT COMFY to wear!

I think there were other color combination for this particular shoes but I chose the two tone with black toe cap because I think it's cute and resemble a ballerina shoes. The side of the shoes has a pattern texture and the black toe cap has a dainty ribbon details with TB logo charm. All part of the shoes were made from rubber jelly even the insoles, except for the bottom of the shoes.

I really like it as it was also my first ever jelly shoes. The jelly material is not like the other jelly shoes from cheaper brands. This one was very well made from high quality material. I thought jelly shoes would look cheap and ugly on my feet, but when I tried this on I was actually surprised on how well it actually looks and how good it actually felt on my skin. The jelly rubber doesn't hurt my skin or irritate them, it also conforms to the shape of your feet because of their more flexible material, so it would be more comfortable to wear (the jelly felt “cool” upon touching the skin too).

I also love the design on this one. I think Tory Burch shoes has elegant designs. This shoes also changed my mind about jelly shoes. I love how cool it feels on your skin when you put them on, I love how they move with your feet, and I also love how easy they are to clean. Jelly shoes are so easy to clean! Whenever I got dirt on it I just wipe it away with a wet wipes :)

wearing the TB Two-Tone Jelly Bow Ballet with
my Ted baker top (H's fave!) & my vintage Fendi shoulder bag.

I had these flats for a while now and has been using it many times. I really like it especially because of the elegant design and the comfort it offers. Although I think this was a half size smaller for me but I could still wear it comfortably :)

Here’s hoping to more designer footwears in the future to complete my wardrobe! :)

Review : Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM in Damier Ebene

First post in 2017 !
Previously on my recent post I mentioned about purchasing my Dream Bag (!) which is the Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM in Damier Ebene. I finally got my dream bag in January of last year (2016).

Oh you have no idea how long I've been dreaming and lusting for this bag. From the very first time I laid my eyes on LV I already pre-determined my dream bag from their collection. And that is the Neverfull MM.

From the start I specifically dreamed of the MM size which is the medium size, because I know that the GM (Grand size) would be too large for my petite frame, and I'm not sure whether the PM (Petite size) would be too small for everyday tote bag or not. You see, I haven't been to an actual LV store before so I can only figure it out from the online photos and video reviews of the bag.

For you who is not familiar with the LV Neverfull series, it has three sizes : PM (petite), MM (medium), and GM (grand/large). They also available in many prints but the classic prints of the Neverfull are basically the Monogram, the Damier Ebene, and the Damier Azure. My dream bag is the Neverfull MM in Damier Ebene.

I know this would be my dream bag which I never expect to purchase any time soon because I just started on my luxury bags journey. I was a newbie and our finance wasn't much either, so I was having a moment with the lower spectrum of the high-end brands such as Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Longchamp, etc because those were the brands that suits our budget at that time (and still is, actually ;p).

But then it all started in January 2016 when me and my husband were feeling low and sad because of a miscarriage that I was having back in December 2015. Husband saw me cry all day and I was heart-broken and having an emotional-wreck. I was so sad and hubby offered me something that he thought would help cheer me up. He hate seeing me sad so he offered the kind gesture of buying me my dream bag. Yes, that's how it happened. That's how I finally purchased my dream bag. Although the price was actually out of our comfort zone but husband was being so nice and generous. He had an extra earning from his office around those months so he offered me to use the extra fund towards my dream bag. I am thankful for him, always ...

I was hesitated at first to spend his money towards this bag (to us that was quite a lot of money because of our currency difference), and I even rejected his idea at first. But he convinced me to go ahead and buy the dream bag anyway. So fast forward, I finally purchased it via the same way I purchased my very first LV item (the Louis Vuitton Mini Pochette in Monogram). I purchased it from Europe via a personal shopping service. My personal shopper is a stewardess who has an International European flight and were able to go to LV store in Amsterdam to buy the bag for me. From my research I found that LV prices are cheapest in Europe compared to other continents, so that's where I purchased my bag from.

When I put in the order I was sure about the size of the bag but wasn't really sure about the print. I was thinking of buying it in the classic monogram print but I was a bit hesitant that it'd be too loud (because it's a big bag) and I already have a monogram LV pochette anyway, so in the end I stick to my first option, the Damier Ebene print.

When the order finally came it was shipped with complete set including all the box and the original receipt from the store. I was excited beyond belief because I finally have it. It's here ! The bag is here !

The overall quality and the whole vibe of the package is luxurious. This was my first ever big-ticket item, so although part of me was still cringing a little bit because spending that lots of money into one bag, but the other half of me is screaming with joy inside because I still couldn't believe it and just can't wait to open the box !

My first experience of unboxing a high-end luxury bag was something I would always remember. Although I didn't buy it personally from the store myself but still the whole complete set made me feel like I just did the shopping myself :)

I remember that I opened the box slowly and squeaked a little when I pull out the bag from its dust bag. The Damier Ebene was so beautiful and really elegant print, I'm now glad that I chose this print. Unlike the Monogram I won't have to worry about the handle being discoloured over time with the Damier Ebene, because the Damier Ebene doesn't come with vachetta leather like the Monogram does. The handle in Damier Ebene is made of leather so it won't goes through a patina process like the vachetta leather in Monogram bags.

I really like the Monogram but worries about the Vachetta leather because I don't like the patina that it will eventually has. I personally think that when you see someone wearing a monogram bag with a patina then you'll know that it's an old(er) bag or not recently purchased. But when you see someone wearing Damier Ebene then you might not guess easily whether the bag is new or old (especially if it's still in good condition). And now a year later I proved myself right, my Neverfull still looks like new ! Hehe ..

But that doesn't mean that I don't like the monogram. I would still get another monogram bag from LV (if my budget permits), but I would prefer the one with less vachetta leather on it. Less vachetta means less patina, right? Currently I am eyeing the Favorite MM :)

The Damier Ebene print has red lining (which is one of the reason why I chose this print, because I love red). There's also a deep pocket on the inside that is useful for bottomless bags like these. The bag has a side pull anyway so you can adjust the size of the bag. You can cinched-in the leather strap on the sides to make it appear smaller in size or release the cinch to make it wider.

The Neverfull has an open top with a small closure in the middle. So you must be careful when putting small things in this bag because it can spill out of the bag when you're not careful due to the open top style. I would usually use some pouches to store my smaller things in addition to its own large pouch that comes with the bag. The inside is bottomless by the way :) You can put anything and everything in there, and it would hold nicely.

The construction of the bag is superb. Everything is beautiful and not an inch wrong. I adored the craftsmanship and it's the kind of bag that you know would last a long time just by looking at it. Although it is made from canvas but it is a high quality canvas that looks elegant yet very durable. The leather trim were also of a high notch quality.

The newer releases of LV Neverfull also came with a matching large pouch inside which is also detachable so you can use it as a clutch on its own. The pouch has a zip in gold hardware and has a separator inside that acts like "pockets". This is the other reason why I chose the Neverfull because it's like getting two bags with one price.

I use the bag for daily use, and use the pouch as a clutch for when I go to wedding parties or fancy meet up. Though you can't put a lot of stuffs in the pouch because although it's large but it's also very thin, so if you put in too much stuffs it would get bulky and looks distorted.

So anyway, so far I have been very pleased with my purchase (it is my Dream Bag after all!). And I have been taking good care of the bag since I got it, because I don't wanna ruin it. So that's why my bag still stiff and still looks like new even after a whole year of usage. I simply store it in its dust bag after using it. And I also wipe it with a cloth every other time. I also never put it on the floor when I go out ( I use bag hooks that you can hook on the table so your bag won't touch the floor), and I also avoid water and dirty situation whenever I'm using the bag 😉

As the name suggests, this bag is really "never full". You can put a lot of things inside it (but I avoid putting too much weight on the bag because I want to take care of it), but you could fill it to the brim if you want. It could be a school or work bag because it can hold your laptop and documents, or some moms also use it as a fancy diaper bag. I also found that some women loves to travel with it because it can hold a lot and easy to just tote around, but I personally won't take this when I'm traveling because it doesn't have a zipper at the top so I figure it's not safe enough (or maybe it's just me who is paranoid hehe).

I think this would be perfect for your first Louis Vuitton bag. Consider you'd get more than you paid for. Aside from the tote bag itself you will also get the detachable pouch that you can use as a clutch. Aaanndd you can also change the shape of the bag by cinching in and out the side pulls, so you'll get an option of two different sized bags : a wide tote or a small bag :)

See? You can get many uses out of this one. It's like getting three kinds of bags with one price :)

When the sides are not cinched-in it is a wide tote bag

with the sides cinched-in it looks like another bag :)

I really love this bag and still adore the quality and craftsmanship behind it. And it's considered a classic too. So you can still wear it years from now without being out of date. The quality is also superb, that if you take good care of it you can hand it down to your daughter (or maybe even grand daughter) in the future 😊

For me this could also means a great investment. In my country the prices of preloved Louis Vuitton is still high especially if they are still in good condition and comes complete with at least the dust bag. So that's one of the reason why I would like to keep this in pristine condition. Not that I want to sell this any time soon, I might never sell it but it's just nice thinking that I made a good investment in this bag.

So this is my most high prized bag in my wardrobe right now (because I can't afford Chanel yet - even the preloved ones 😅) so I don't want to use it too often because I'm afraid I'll ruin it faster, Lol. That's the problem with a bag lover. You dream about the bag, then you finally had the bag, but then you're afraid of using them because you don't want to ruin it. Who can relate ? 😂

Anyway, to close this already super long post, here's a couple of photos of how I styled the bag :

New-In (Accs) : Laduree Macaron Keychain

I'd like to dress up my bags with little bag charms and/or scarves, and I always like how this Laduree macaron keychain looks like on other people's bags, so of course I wanted it for myself ;)

They are so cute and pretty, and they come in many colors. They are not cheap though, so I always hesitate to buy them. They are also not available in my country so I have to purchase them via a personal shopping service that can get you stuffs from abroad.

Husband finally got me this Laduree keychain as a Valentine gift. We ordered it from Laduree Japan via a shopping service. It came in a beautiful box and the keychain is super cute !

I chose the brown color because I intend to put it on my brown colored bags such as my LV Neverfull Damier Ebene or my Michael Kors Jetset Tote in luggage.

[UPDATED] : I also find it looks cute hanging from my Longchamp Le Pliage Small Tote in Beige (new bag!). Below is an example of when I use it as a bag charm in both my LV Neverfull and my Le Pliage :

Now don't they look cute together?
Thankyou hubby !

And here are my other bag charms using scarves :

Bag Review : Longchamp Le Pliage Tote (LLH) in Gunmetal

One of my most worn bag last year is definitely the Longchamp Le Pliage Tote Bag. There's nothing fussy about the bag. It's the easiest bag to wear. All I have to do is just grab it and fill it with anything I wanna take with me that day, zip it up, and I'm ready to go! Such an easy-breezy, one-size-fits-all everyday tote bag. Definitely one of my best pick!

Longchamp is considered as the entry door to designer / luxury world. Their most popular item is their iconic Le Pliage tote bags - which is also their most affordable item. The Le Pliage series is considered as "lower-end" in the designer brand hierarchy, because they have a "more affordable" price range compared to other designer bags. So the Le Pliage are usually the choice for girls who just ventured into "the world of designer bags", or girls who wants to buy their first designer bag but don't want to splurge too much as it is their first dip into the luxury world.

I got this bag for FREE (!) from a work-related job I had back in the days. As I have mentioned before, I felt really blessed and very lucky because some of my first designer items were free. Including my first ever designer item which is the Coach Madison Lurex Coin Purse, and my first ever designer bag the Kate Spade Georgina (both I won in giveaways), as well as a couple of other luxury brand items that were gifted to me from family or from jobs such as this one. I got very lucky and didn't have to pay anything for them, including this Longchamp Le Pliage Tote Bag. I am very thankful for all of it.. and still can't believe my luck :)

So anyway, this Longchamp tote bag is actually my third designer bag (first is the Kate Spade Georgina, second is the Michael Kors Jetset Tote). As part of a job I took I was given a credit voucher that I can use to purchase anything from any reputable online market. So I purchased this bag from a popular online designer outlet and then got reimbursed for it later. So this was another Free one indeed and I felt very blessed and thankful for that :)

I chose this bag because : (1) the credit voucher I was given had a limited amount and this Le Pliage is the only one I want from that budget range. And (2) because I've been wanting a Le Pliage ever since I learned about how easy and durable they are.

It's "the versatile daily bag that every girl should have".

As you might probably know, the Le Pliage bag is a cult favorite. It is an ultra lightweight nylon canvas bag inspired by the Japanese art of origami. Simple yet eminently ingenious it has become a firm favorite all over the world.

The Le Pliage is known for their sturdy nylon material that even comes rain or storm the bag would stand it all. The material is waterproof, scratch-resistant, very durable, and can hold a ton of things inside. It comes with a zipper and flap for maximum security, and the nylon material makes it easy to clean (just wipe it off!).

Mine is a Longchamp Le Pliage Large size with Long Handle, in the color Gunmetal. I chose the long handle because I like bags that I can carry on my shoulder, especially for larger size bags. My petite figure doesn't allow me to carry heavy bags, so I personally think that larger size bag would be more comfortable if I can wear them on my shoulder. I thought with large bags we tend to bring a lot of products inside, and if it's a hand-held bag then I imagine it would be painfully excruciating having to hold that many weight on our hand for a long time. And I'm always a shoulder-bag-girl anyway :)

The color I chose is Gunmetal - which to my eyes it looks like a blue-ish dark grey. I originally wanted to get the black one or the blue one, but there were not that many options on the website at the time when I got this bag, so I went with this shade instead.

I love love love this bag. As I told you this is my most worn bag during last year, I wore it almost every day. The bag is very roomy with only one small pocket inside. I can practically put in everything I want in this bag. It fits my 13" laptop very nicely + my big iPad + wallet + huge planner + water bottle, even with an added umbrella this bag would still holds very nice!

The most important thing is how light this bag is!
This is probably the most lightweight bag I owned so far. It weighs like nothing, so when you put your heavy items into it (such as laptop) then it wouldn't burden your shoulder so much because the bag itself is already very light, so it wouldn't add any extra weight to your shoulder. Nice, right?

I also love how I can wear it daily. It's my grab-and-go bag! Aaannd it's also perfect for travel or for a weekend getaway. With the large size you can fill it with clothes, wet bags, sandals, makeup pouches, and toiletries. Basically it would fit all your necessities for a short trip. It's perfect for cabin bag too!

And to top it off, the Le Pliage is known for their magical ability to turn from a large size into a teeny weeny itsy bitsy size just by folding it ! Yes, you can fold the Le Pliage so you can even bring it INSIDE your other bag for extra storage if needed.

How the Large size looks on my petite figure :

Psstt, I've read some girls also put the folded Le Pliage inside their more valuable bags (such as LV or Chanel bag), so when it rains they just take out the Le Pliage and put their LV/Chanel bag INSIDE the Le Pliage to cover it from the rain :)

I really love the Le Pliage so much it makes me want to get another one (or two more ;p).

On my wish list :
- Le Pliage Small size with Short Handle in black
- Le Pliage Medium with Long Handle in any color.

I also wanted the black Planetes one (the older version, not the Neo one) - but they are not produced anymore so I guess I'd have to hunt for the Planetes online or from private sellers.

Wish Me Luck on finding it!

New-in (Clothes): DKNYJeans Wool Knit Sweater

Last week (September) there was a charity bazaar held by Club 21, a boutique that sells designer names. The bazaar is basically a boutique sale + designer garage sale that were held for charity. I of course decided to come because it was actually my first time ever coming to Club21 Charity Bazaar. I remember I came at the last day of the bazaar and on the way there I can't wait to see what would I purchase from the garage sale section.

It turns out that the garage sale section didn't really have anything interesting. Sure there were a lot of designer preloved goods (infact, almost all of the items on sale were designer brand names), but there was nothing that interest me, and maybe because I only came at the last day and the last minute so there really wasn't much left. Maybe the good stuffs were already sold out because all that's left was ugly dirty clothes and shoes that no one wants. There's a pair of Louboutins that looks like its still in good condition but it wasn't in my size (and it was still a tad expensive too). There was also a cute and girly Marc Jacobs rain boots for only around $20 but it was in shocking pink color (!) and it's not customary here in my country to wear rain boots, so I had to skip it because I don't think it's worth it. Another thing that I was gonna buy is a preloved travel document holder from Aspinal of London in very mint condition. It was made of rich luxurious leather in a royal blue color that makes me fell in love. I kept looking at it and then picking it up and then putting it down again (repeatedly). It was marked $30 and I didn't buy it, but at home I tried to browse around and I realized that it's retail price was a whopping $142 !

My mistake was I went to the bazaar when I know I didn't have money (yasss, so stupid, I know). But even though I didn't have money I still wanted to come to the bazaar just to see if there might be something cheap that I can take home. So the reason why I didn't get the Aspinal of London travel document holder (that I coveted) is because I already found something cheaper that I wanted to purchase. A grey ruffled DKNYJeans knit sweater that was marked down for 70% Off. Then surprisingly I got extra discount at the cashier so the last price I had to pay for the sweater was only $7 !! And it wasn't even from the garage sale section, it was from the boutique sale section (which means it's a new item from the boutique, not a preloved from club21 members).

The sweater is a mix of viscose, cotton, wool, angora materials. It is warm and fuzzy, and adorned with feminine ruffles on one side. There are fabric ties on top and bottom of the ruffles, so you can wear it tied for more detailed look, or just let the tie loose. Thanks to the tie the sweater can also be ruched at the bottom, and this is how I mostly wear it, with a little ruched on the bottom side.

Unfortunately I didn't get the preloved Aspinal of London travel document holder, and that day I also saw a row of Diane von Furstenberg wrap dresses at the boutique section that were on sale. Sadly the DVF dress was still too expensive for my budget at that time (even though it was on sale around $60-70). So I had to let it go.. But at least I got a brand new angora wool DKNY knit sweater for just $7 ! Ha!
